Dementia Friendly Event at Steam Museum

The Steam Museum is holding a free event for people living with dementia & their carers on the 30th of June from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.

 

  • Share your Railway Memories
  • Meet other enthusiasts who worked on the Railway
  • Guest speaker Andy Binks, Chairman of the Swindon Society and a former Railway Works employee, reveals the history of the Town with stories, photos and quirky facts
  • Handle artefacts and equipment
  • Take the opportunity to see the exhibits as you tour the Museum

The event is set to be a wonderful celebration of Swindon’s railway industrial history, and it’s sure to bring back some fantastic memories of a bygone age. One of the highlights of the day will undoubtedly be the opportunity to get up close and personal with the legendary Castle locomotive. Attendees will be able to walk underneath the engine in a specially designed area, providing a unique and exciting perspective. Additionally, there will be plenty of chances to experience the museum’s collection of artefacts in a fully immersive way, making the day even more unforgettable. Guided tours led by members of the STEAM Museum will also be available, offering a fascinating glimpse into the history of the locomotive.
